The Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Angel Fire, NM was originally known as the Vietnam Veterans Peace and Brotherhood Chapel, which was built in honor of 17 soldiers who lost their lives in a battle near Con Thien, South Vietnam. Among the soldiers, was David Westphall, son of Victor and Jeanne Westphall. Thanks to the vision and determination of the Westphalls, the memorial exists today to honor not only these 17 Marines but all members of America’s armed forces.
The chapel is an elegant structure rising above the terrain on a south facing slope overlooking the town of Angel Fire in the Moreno Valley.
