Description
Safe Harbor was taken around the time of the “Orange Skies Day” in San Francisco, CA in September 2020. The smoke from large fires east of San Francisco mixed with fog to deliver the orange hue in the sky. This unique and dramatic photograph was taken by a boat owner in the South Beach Marina. The sky in this photograph was darkened with smoke so it was not as orange as some of the cityscape photos that were published. If you look at the horizon in this image, however, you can see the orange cast of the sky over the city off in the distance. The dramatic composition and contrast of masts, rigging and hulls against the darkened background and the mirror reflection in the water creates an image that is worthy of comment, discussion, study and staring.
