Payaso

Description

Chile peppers in the southwest USA come in a variety of sizes and flavors, commonly turning from green in their youth to various shades of red and yellow when they ripen. Blue is very unusual, as demonstrated by this Payaso (Spanish for clown). It’s a Big Jim variety of chile with a dose of character you might want to call a “Bloochie” (for those not familiar with New Mexico chile). If someone asks about the blue one, just tell them it’s a Bloochie and keep a straight face and see how they react. They may take it seriously, or just chuckle a bit, or think you are pretty corny and push the stupid joke buzzer. Doesn’t matter how they react, this is just interacting with the artwork. Fine art often tries to be serious with moods and emotions. This is “fun art” instead, probably best located in a lounge or bar.
