Alpine Lush

This image shows lush vegetation and crystal clear water at the output of a naturally formed lake at 12,000 feet above sea level near Silverton, Colorado. It’s an incredibly calming experience to just stand still and absorb the silence with a faint trickle of the water. It’s remarkable that such a lush little environment can exist in the midst of granite strewn tundra surroundings. This little alpine paradise is accessible only by 4 wheel drive vehicles or a long hike, which helps to keep it pure, clean and away from crowds. This photograph was made on a partly cloudy day during a brief moment when a cloud cast a shadow on this particular spot. From a distance, it’s a photograph. As you move in closer, you start to see the swirly strokes of the Opusstuf character.
