The annular eclipse is a brief period of a few hours when the moon is slightly smaller than the sun, revealing the corona flare and a bright circle around the moon during the peak of the eclipse. Onset is a photograph made when the moon first started to cover the sun. The finished image shows the sun with sunspots, the sun’s corona, and the shadow side of the moon.

Chile peppers in the southwest USA come in a variety of sizes and flavors, commonly turning from green in their youth to various shades of red and yellow when they ripen. Blue is certainly unique, as demonstrated by this Payaso (Spanish for clown). It’s a Big Jim variety of chile with a dose of character you might want to call a “Bloochie” while you keep a straight face.

It is, a preservation of a site that was a center of cultural and economic activity from about 1325 C.E. The location was on the Santa Fe Trail and functioned as a destination and stop over point for traders and travelers from hundreds of miles away. It was populated until about 1830 when the last of the inhabitants migrated to the Jemez Pueblo.

Since they were hard to tell one from another, and the fact that they always traveled together, simple to just name the group Quadra. In a fairly strong breeze, they make a harmonious vocal group, blending in full, half and even quarter notes. When they were young, travel was fairly easy, so they went on tour. We don’t have video of them traveling together, but we can imagine them bouncing along on a flexible stem like a pogo stick.

A dried up chile pepper like this is normally ground up into a powder to make a seasoning. This particular specimen asked if he could become an ornament instead of a seasoning, so we made him into a model decoration.
