People gather in communities to share common values and heritage, and each person develops their own style and identity to define themselves. Populace is abstract reality in fiery colors.

Portador is Spanish for “carrier,” which in essence what a pine cone is. It is a storage and distribution device for the host tree, scattering seeds to plant new trees in the forest. In its infancy, a pine cone is a small “bloom” on the tree like what occurs on flowering plants in general. As the bloom matures, seeds form inside it, covered by “scales,” which are trap doors that open to release the seeds when the cone is mature and dried out.

Quadruplets came along in the StubblesTM family. Since they were hard to tell one from another, and the fact that they always traveled together, it would be simplest to just name the group Quadra. In a fairly strong breeze, they make a harmonious vocal group, blending in full, half and even quarter notes. When they were young, travel was fairly easy, so they went on tour. We don’t have video of them traveling together, but we can imagine them bouncing along on a flexible stem like a pogo stick.

Rainbow Blvd is a lonely dirt road in central New Mexico named as a “boulevard.” This image is perhaps the definition of wide open spaces. It is also a prime example of the high plains across a large part of New Mexico, as a contrast to the mountain peaks in western and northern parts of the state.

It’s a matter of now and then; thinking back to last summer. Rather than “turning over a new leaf,” it’s more like “turning back the old leaf.” Just like us humans as we get older, some details and lines begin to appear. At times we also think back to good times in the past.

Rugoso is Spanish for wrinkled or rough. Can a wrinkled jalapeno add flavor to a wall? Probably, in a kitchen or dining nook. A dried up chile pepper like this is normally ground up into a powder to make a seasoning. This particular specimen asked if he could become an ornament instead of a seasoning, so we made him into a model decoration

A fallen leaf gets its moment of fame with bi-directional lighting and a fluid effect in the OpusStuf studio. The arteries, veins and capillaries form an intricate structure that was not visible when the leaf was green and alive. Nature’s marvelous designs present a visual journey when viewed up close.

It could be they are cousins, certainly not twins. They do have a common root below them, so there is some sort of relationship. This mighty balancing act stands around 80 feet tall. This pair is accompanied by many “hoodoos”* in the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, where volcanic activity millions of years ago and erosion since then has produced some uncanny rock formations.

These rock formations in the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument are what’s left after millions of years of erosion. Located only a few miles from the Valles Caldera supervolcano, this area in New Mexico was covered with volcanic ash, pumice and pyroclast 1,000 feet deep. Erosion washed away the softer material under the caprocks, which then fell, leaving the conical formations found throughout the monument.

Looking up 80 or 90 feet to this natural marvel, it appears that there is little or nothing keeping the boulder from rolling down the slope. This is one of many “hoodoos” in the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument

An innocent little red Vinca is a small, flat, prolific blooming little plant at home outdoors or in almost any sunny window. If you move in and look closely, there is an interesting, almost scary core inside the center of the bloom. Are those teeth? The fact is that Vincas are a sun loving, nectar provider for bees and hummingbirds, also known by the happy name Periwinkle.
