Brian Kurowski (aka BK) is a self-described music and nature lover with ears, eyes and an appreciation for the unconventional, the unlikely and the quirky. A lifelong mechanical tinkerer, designer drafter and pastime doodler he combines intentional precision and mindless whimsy to create drawings, often with no premeditated outcome.
Says Brian, “I usually embellish a theme along the way as one begins to emerge from my graphical wanderings. I find that my most likeable works are those which come from out of nowhere. I naturally invoke geometric shapes, abstract symbols and sigils, of no particular meaning as I draw, typically with an axis of symmetry and mirrored imagery. These come to my hand as a meditation of sorts, purely emotive at first and then becoming more deliberate as I pursue an idea within the drawing. What often results are anthropomorphic imagery, faces or bodies that float opposed or radially arrayed on the paper.”
Brian resides in his native state of New Mexico and, when not drawing, can be found woodworking, bicycle riding on mountain trails, restoring his antique truck or traveling and exploring.
