Rainbow Blvd is a lonely dirt road in central New Mexico named as a “boulevard.” This image is perhaps the definition of wide open spaces. It is also a prime example of the high plains across a large part of New Mexico, as a contrast to the mountain peaks in western and northern parts of the state.

Description
Rainbow Blvd is a lonely dirt road in central New Mexico named as a “boulevard.” This image is the definition of wide open spaces. It is also a prime example of the high plains across a large part of New Mexico. Mountain peaks are featured in western and northern parts of the state. For example, Wheeler Peak in the northern part of the state is over 13,000 feet above sea level. Rainbow Blvd area is about 5,200 feet. This image looks like it might be a multi-image panorama, but it was made with a single photograph. The image was edited for color and density, then processed with a filter yielding a result similar to a subtle Van Gogh technique. From a distance, it looks like a photograph, but as you move in closer, you start to see the “brush stroke” effects and it takes on more of an illustrative nature.
